Upgrade your Craftsman Professional 4.5” Vise (951888) with 3D-printed soft jaws built to hold a wheel by its thru-axle without marring it. Carbon fiber-infused polyamide gives these jaws the strength and durability for real shop work — changing tires, adjusting valves, servicing hub internals, truing, or working on disc brakes with the wheel held steady.

What bike shops use them for:

• Tires, rim tape and valve stems: Clamp the wheel by its axle and both hands are free to pull a bead, lay fresh tubeless tape, or swap a valve stem.

• Hub work: Bearings, freehub bodies, end caps and preload adjustments with the wheel held steady instead of rolling around on the bench.

• Cassette replacement: Hold the wheel while you break the lockring loose and swap the cassette.

• Anything tires and wheels: Truing, rotor swaps, sealant top-ups, or just getting a good look at a wheel without a stand.

What fits (four axle grooves):

Each jaw has four half-round grooves. Close the vise on the axle ends with the wheel still on, and the grooves clamp the shaft without biting the finish.

• 12 mm — rear thru-axles on every modern mountain bike (12×142, Boost 12×148, Super Boost 12×157) and front and rear thru-axles on road and gravel bikes (12×100 front, 12×142 rear). RockShox Maxle Stealth rear, DT Swiss RWS, Syntace X-12, Shimano, Robert Axle Project and similar.

• 15 mm — mountain bike front thru-axles: standard 15×100, Boost 15×110, and 15×150 fat bike. RockShox Maxle Stealth / Maxle Ultimate, Fox Kabolt and Kabolt-X, Shimano E-Thru, plus 15 mm gravel forks.

• 20 mm — downhill and freeride front axles, 20×110 Boost and legacy 20×110: Fox 36 / 38 / 40 20 mm axles, RockShox Maxle DH and BoXXer.

• 14 mm — 14 mm solid bolt-on rear axles on BMX and dirt-jump hubs.

Not for 5 mm / 9 mm quick-release skewers — those are too thin for the grooves to grip.
