Made to order. Orders generally ship within 2 business days from Austin, TX.

Every millimeter on the steerer changes how the bike feels. I got tired of digging through the toolbox for another spacer, stacking four or five of them, and still not landing on the right height — and a stack of loose spacers loves to creak and squeak under load. These are one piece, made to order in 1 mm increments: no stack, no creak, no squeak.

I’ve been making these and putting them on my bikes for years. Everything from Telluride to Tahoe to Austin to Sedona to racing to ripping with the crew. These things are bombproof.

Sold per piece. Pick the height you need. Use one below the stem, one above it, or add two to the cart for both; the part is the same either way.

DETAILS

  • Made to order, 1-1/8" steerer
  • Height: 2–40 mm, 1 mm increments
  • Polycarbonate carbon fiber composite
  • Compressive strength: 86 MPa
  • Handles 6 Nm of stem clamp force rated with headroom to spare — tested well beyond that
  • One solid piece — nothing to work loose, no creak, no squeak

INSTALL NOTE

If you’re running an above-stem spacer, size it so it sits 1–2 mm taller than the steerer tube. That way the top cap presses down on the spacer only, never on the steerer itself.

Install order matters for a tight, quiet fit:

  1. Stack your spacers/riser and stem on the steerer, then thread in the top cap bolt.
  2. Before tightening the top cap, push down on the stem/bars to seat the fork crown race, then tighten the top cap just until headset play and fork binding are gone — this sets fork preload, not stem clamp force, so there’s no torque spec here, just snug.
  3. With preload set, tighten the stem clamp bolts evenly in a cross pattern, a little at a time, following your stem manufacturer’s torque spec and installation instructions.

Skip the preload step and the stem clamp ends up fighting a loose headset — that’s where creaks and knocking come from, not the riser. Always follow your stem, fork, and headset manufacturers’ own instructions and torque specs; when in doubt, have a qualified bike shop do the install.
